Kersi Pastakia

Kersi Pastakia is the head of the New York office of Beijing Xunde Law Firm. He holds a Master's degree in Global Affairs from Kings College London, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and a degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Kersi Pastakia is fluent in English, Chinese, and Hindi, and specializes in resolving cross-border trade disputes, overseas investments, overseas mergers and acquisitions, international trade, Sino-US policy, and Sino-Indian trade. Kersi Pastakia previously worked at the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) of Beijing, where she was primarily responsible for supporting risk communication by creating bilingual materials, including policy briefs, press releases, and social media campaigns for key office events or international days (e.g., the 2022 International Youth Day Campaign). He participated in updating and providing input to the UN China website and other communication products, including videos, podcasts, articles, social media posts, etc. He was in charge of developing, translating, and editing communication materials, including op-eds, website content, press releases, social media posts, speeches, and other media/social media or related articles in English and Chinese. Currently, he mainly assists attorneys with estate planning, probate and administration, real estate transfers, corporate/LLC formation, and immigration matters for Chinese individuals, families, and businesses. He drafts and prepares legal documents, including deeds, trusts, probate petitions, immigration forms, and retainer agreements. He communicates with clients, co-op attorneys, financial institutions, and government agencies regarding case status and document requirements; manages case files, tracks deadlines, and assists with billing, invoicing, and other administrative support as needed. He translates conversations and documents from English to Mandarin and from Mandarin to English; explains legal procedures to clients in both Chinese and English. Before working in the United States, Kersi Pastakia worked at Beijing Jingsh Law Firm, assisting in building the Jingsh Global Network, establishing a global lawyer service alliance in more than 100 countries and regions, with a global network of over 2,000 lawyers! A proactive law undergraduate and global affairs postgraduate student with an interest in different legal systems, global affairs and trade.Strong background using Microsoft Office Suite (including advanced Excel) and looking to transition Mandarin fluency and research/writing skills to a role supporting a US law firm working with international corporate clients.
